Romeo & Juliet, Project Overview

Romeo & Juliet is a collaborative project between Haydock High School & Creative Partnerships.

Responding to the action research question,

“How can creative use of new media improve young peoples thinking & literacy skills?”

We planned together to enable the young people to....

- Create stop-frame animations of characters from the play.
Using a cardboard pivot to look at each character from a variety of different metaphorical angles, the young people created sets and character models. They addressed Shakespears use of metaphor by animating their characters to transform into various weird & wonderful objects.

- Creating digital interactive 3d guides to 'Act 3 Scene One' of the play.
The young people created these using Google SketchUp & used them as guides whilst writing their essays'.
